President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo says his government has paid off “almost half” of debts it inherited from the Mahama administration.
According to the President, the aforementioned success was possible because of the prudent management of the economy under his watch.
Ghana’s total debt stock ending September last year reached ¢138.9 billion according to Bank of Ghana’s (BoG) report on the summary of economic and financial data for the year 2017.
The President made this known whiles delivering his mandatory State of the Nations Address on the floor of Parliament on Thursday.
President Akufo-Addo also disclosed that his government has reduced taxes to enable local businesses to thrive.
This he insists has resulted in economic growth in the year under review.
He also disclosed that Ghana’s IMF economic recovery program which started in 2015 will come to an end this year.
